The new Tamil movie Kudumbasthan, starring K Manikandan, came out in theaters last week on January 24th. The film, directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy, got positive reviews from critics. But sadly, just days after its release, pirated copies of the movie started spreading online through illegal torrent sites.
This isn’t the first time a new Tamil or South Indian film has been pirated shortly after premiering in cinemas. Recent movies like Game Changer, Pushpa 2, Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, and several others were also leaked illegally within a week of their theatrical debuts. While one person involved in illegally broadcasting the Ram Charan movie on local TV was arrested, most of the piracy culprits are still out there.
The producers of Game Changer spoke out against the piracy, saying it’s unacceptable for a new film to be pirated so quickly after release. They said making a movie takes years of hard work from thousands of people, not just the famous actors and directors.
Unfortunately, just days after its theatrical premiere, illegal pirated copies of Kudumbasthan are now widely available across torrent sites like Filmyzilla, Vegamovies, and more in high-definition video quality. The movie has been uploaded to Reddit and streaming sites too.
In Kudumbasthan, the main character Naveen is the sole breadwinner supporting his wife Vennila and parents. But he loses his job after refusing to apologize for a workplace conflict. With money troubles piling up and family pressures, Naveen has to find a new way forward.
The film is directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy and co-written by Prasanna Balachandran. It’s produced by S. Vinoth Kumar, with cinematography by Sujith N. Subramaniam and editing by Kannan Balu. Vaisagh composed the music.
