Dhadak 2 Storylines and Plot
Dhadak 2 has not attempted to walk in the same imprints of the film but has chiseled its own place with a message that fuels its plot, even inspired by the awarding winning Tamil movie Pariyerum Perumal. It is amidst a backdrop of caste politics and institutionalised discrimination where the film follows the journey of Neelesh (Siddhant Chaturvedi), a bright underprivileged law student who takes a shot at flying beyond his social station and dares to dream. The moment he falls in love with her (Vidhi, played by Triptii Dimri) a woman of an upper-caste family, the duo makes love, which causes a lot of disagreement in a community that defines itself by such lines of strict hierarchy and unspoken conventions.
Instead of popularizing insurrection, it is anticipated that the plot will reveal the inhumane emotional consequences of operating in a love affair in a highly polarised society. Silent violence to deliberate humiliation, the fight of Neelesh to dignify himself and Vidhi coming to terms with her privilege comprise the emotional crux of the movie. Director Shazia Iqbal wants to combine realism and tragedy in her film to offer to the audience more than a love story: a shocking wake up call with a hug.
Going by the initial impressions, Dhadak 2 might have one of the truest depictions of love challenging the caste system and the repercussions thereof in the history of Bollywood.

Dhadak 2 Budget and Possible Box Office Collections
Although the budget of Dhadak 2 is not yet reported, the cost of making its predecessor Dhadak (2018) was 410 million Indian rupee, and it collected 1130 million Indian rupee. Considering the high production value of the film, the musical scope of the film, and ensemble cast, the community insiders theorize a close match or less of the budget on this project.
Before the release, the buzz on Reddit is split where people are calling it a flop based on the trailer performance though some are hopeful it will be the average hit with 65-80 crores at the box office. How it will fare with the audience will be best left to be determined by its cast sensitive plot and powerful acting.
Since Dhadak 2 is scheduled to come out on August 1, 2025, it will be interesting to see how it does during its opening weekend, able to reaffirm the same success of the original or to demonstrate the shortcomings of socially conscious remakes in commercially-oriented cinema. Box office updates will come out soon.
Final Word
Dhadak 2 has positioned itself as more than a run-of-the-mill love story, it is a rousing, politically-minded drama that dares to take on caste mores by the horns. The chemistry between Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri is raw and evocative and one of the first things to be praised about the film. Although there were allusions of high emotional ante in the trailer, its release has created expectations of a film that aims to fulfill as well as fulfill the heart and the contents.
