Filmmaker Farah Khan is reportedly developing a sequel to the 2004 blockbuster Main Hoon Na, which marked her directorial debut. Nearly 20 years after the original’s release, she is working on Main Hoon Na 2 under Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment banner.
Reports reveal that Farah has crafted a new storyline for the sequel, and Shah Rukh Khan is intrigued by her creative vision. The script is now in development with Farah’s writing team collaborating closely with Red Chillies’ in-house writers.

However, the superstar is cautious about proceeding without a solid foundation. “Shah Rukh is clear that he doesn’t want to greenlight a sequel just for nostalgia’s sake. He understands the iconic status of Main Hoon Na and is looking for a script that can surpass the impact of the original,” a source said.
SRK is expected to review the first draft by mid-2025 before making a final decision. If approved, this project will mark the fourth collaboration between Shah Rukh and Farah, following Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, and Happy New Year.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is currently filming Siddharth Anand’s King, slated for a 2026 release, and is also preparing for Pathaan 2, the next installment in the YRF Spy Universe.
